San Carlos peridot comes in a wide array of yellowish-green hues. The gem shown above is a fine example of the bright yellowish-green peridot from this location. Most San Carlos peridot is rather heavily included. It is difficult to find a piece of rough gem material from this area that can be cut into an eye-clean stone, but the inclusions in this gem have been placed in one end to produce a stone of fine appearance. The Marquise facet pattern yields gemstones of modest scintillation, put the interesting shape and pure yellowish-green body color of this stone more than make up for any lack of brilliance. This peridot would make a beautiful centerpiece in a pendant, pin, or ring.
