In the last decade Pakistan has produced some exceptionally large gemmy peridot crystals. Like the color of the gemstone shown above, most peridot from this location is a very attractive medium-deep yellowish-green. This square cushion cut peridot delivers very good light return and scintillation. The symmetry, facet meets, proportion, and polish for this gem are all good. Rather than have a traditional table facet on the top of the stone, this gem has a crown completely covered with small square facets; delivering an attractive and unusual pattern of light flashes. This gem would look beautiful in a pendant, pin or large ring. The size and shape of this gem makes it equally useful for either a man's or woman's ring.
