San Carlos peridot comes in a wide array of yellowish-green hues. The gem shown above is a fine example of the bright yellowish-green peridot from this location. Most San Carlos peridot is rather heavily included. It is difficult to find a piece of rough gem material from this area that can be cut into an eye-clean stone. This gem has only a few inclusions located toward the edges of the stone, inclusions that are difficult to see by eye. The Apollo A Cut, a design by Paul Smith, delivers great light return and a very interesting pattern of light flashes. This is an expertly crafted and very brilliant gem that would make a beautiful centerpiece in a ring, pin, or pendant.
