Olivine "Bombs" Weathered from the Ejecta Rim of Kilbourne Hole

KHnodule2

The olivine nodules come in all shapes and sizes. Shown above are two rather large "bombs." Each has been chipped to get a peek at what might be inside. Both of these pieces contained very fine grained olivine of deep green color. It probably isn't worth the energy required to break them down any further, but who can be certain? This spot on the crater rim had abundant nodules weathering out of the ejecta, and on the surface. I tried picking through the virgin tuff/breccia to see if digging would yield many more "bombs." Unfortunately, the xenoliths are too widely distributed throughout the ejecta to make digging worthwhile.
