Garnets comprise a family of minerals with a variety of chemical compositions that result in a wide array of natural colors. Shown above is a highly-saturated, deep, slightly purplish-pink rhodolite garnet. The Supernova cut, a design by Norman Steele, delivers very good light return and scintillation on top of a gorgeous body color. The above exceptionally well-crafted gemstone shows good clarity. It would be a true eye-catcher in a custom-designed pendant, pin, or ring. Other than the skillful faceting, this gem has not been "enhanced" by any treatment.
