Here is a close-up image of a section of specimen #M385. The hessonite (type?) garnets are a deep brownish-orange. They are randomly scattered across the specimen and cling to the surface of the dark smoky quartz crystals and white feldspar. Especially notable is the garnet to the far left of the above image; perched at the tip of a smoky quartz crystal. The dodecahedral shape and striated surface of the garnets is beautiful. The smoky quartz crystals are a deep, clear, brown. (#M385 is offered for $95.00) Back
